We start with the song of a great blues man – Sonny Boy Williamson – who cries while begging his beloved to return the keys to his door, THE CLE, which opens the door of his heart.
Here, the key symbolizes what the character hopes to find behind the door, which is love. It’s a nice picture!
SYMBOLIC OF THE KEY
The key is an object that is not quite like the others. Just like the hammer, scissors or other instruments, the key has been designed to fill practical tasks.
A key is used to open or close the door of a house, garage gate, car, trunk, etc.
But the key is much more than a tool. Indeed, a key makes it possible to open but what counts is not so much the physical act of the opening but the consequence of this act.
Obviously the scissors symbolize, a dress. But the key represents a much more powerful symbol: it symbolizes a promise.
The key, in this sense, is similar to other objects that are purely symbolic such as banknotes for example. Certainly a key has no value but it symbolizes the power of what it will allow us to do.
And just like the banknote, the key can also be a real object of art, a real sculpture made by the best locksmiths . The keys were often made of precious metal and lined with precious stones.
THE KEY TO THE21STCENTURY!
The key has been transformed into a digital key that opens the door to the world, without borders, of satellite television. Again this is an object: a USB key.
So we still keep a visual link just like with the traditional key, just like with the keys of our apartments. While no longer works of art, the keys look a little like those found for example on Vatican flags.
All these keys are dematerialized and come, for example, in the form of a simple code to unlock your phone.
Even if you see a nice key adorning your screen, it is the phone itself that is the symbol of your social status, its ability to produce a sophisticated image but certainly not the key as in the past.
Digital keys have many advantages over traditional keys.
- You no longer need to carry the keys with a risk of losing them.
- It is possible to act remotely:
if you have a digital lock, for example, you can lock it by sending an order via the Internet or via your Smartphone. You will be able to forget the permanent torture of the kind “did I close my door by leaving badly awake at work this morning?”
On the other hand, there is always a major risk:
- the computer system crashes
- the battery of your phone (so smart that it is able to open the doors of your car but also your house) no longer works
This poses a big problem if we lose all the applications we are so dependent on.
It will therefore be necessary to think about always having a copy of his digital key somewhere. Even in the digital world, you have to do what you used to do in the world: a double of the keys
We are faced with the possibility of the imminent disappearance of an object after the book, the CD or the calculator. The key may one day go into a museum.
Our children will no longer have palpitations in the heart by finding a key under the bush of a garden!
But one will always need the skills of a good locksmith to make, reproduce or program the keys.
